Labrador is widely used around the world, and is still an excellent bean when compared to more modern varieties.
Labrador produces a mid green, pubescent pod that is 13-14cm long and 9-10mm wide. It is used for both mechanical harvest or hand pick. It has excellent shelf life and taste, which is why it continues to be commercially popular even 20 years after it was originally released. When mechanically harvested, it picks very clean when compared to other varieties.
Labrador is suited to cooler production areas as it is early maturing and has good vigour. This variety is now best suited to smaller farmers and market gardeners.
